Ken Schles deals with issues that are of enormous importance in the modern world.
On the back cover it says: We infuse the world we encounter with meaning, with social and symbolic significance based on the value we place upon representations we share. This, perhaps, is the irony of our conceptualizations: We make and share images so that we may know the world. But what is the nature of our image representations and what do they offer?
Now Ken Schles is not the only and first to follow these issues. But his book, which explores in four chapters the relations of images, experience, memory and existence, renounces analysis and takes the viewer on a visually and linguistically fascinating and irritating search for connections and meaning. Inevitably, the search continues, after having read this book.
