MICHAEL ANHALT /// APATHIE - ERFURT / IX1155/82         de | en

Who wanted to flee over the inner German border, needed to plan carefully and be creative.
Through a lack economy and total surveillance by the security police, building balloons and aviation objects was extremely difficult.

With this information Michael Anhalt’s book APATHIE begins, a chronic of the escape trial from the German Democratic Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany, which he as a child has experienced with his family.

The attempt to escape failed, the parents went to prison, the children were separated and the families were reunited only after the amnesty and banishment in the Federal Republic of Germany. The book shows the locations of the actions, partly in historical pictures, partly from the present point of view as well as a number of original documents.

In the past months much was reported about the German/ German relation, about the Wall and the German Democratic Republic, this quiet and very personal book by Michael Anhalt definitely deserves a special position in the medial roar about the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall.

The book is limited to 300 copies, of which we can offer some, but few.
