Ein sehr spezielles Buch für ein sehr spezielles Publikum. Spaß macht es, wenn man mit dem Werk von Stephen Shore gut vertraut ist. Volker Renner aber, so viel steht fest, hat ganz gewiss Spaß auf seiner tollen Reise gehabt. Er schreibt:
›All of the following photographs are based on the matrix of Stephen Shores legendary ›A Road Trip Journal‹. The book bacame my pathfinder while trying to redo all the photographs he did on his trip in 1973. I kept the notes Shore used and changed them if the name had changed over time.
People and places I could not find and could not photograph are left blank in the layout. The route varies in some places, due to the fact that Shore didn´t take pictures the whole journey. 37 years later I followed his photographs like a pilgrimage - or like a tourist who follows his attractions.
Shore´s photographs as my attraction, in search of his tracks, his motives and movements within a city and on the road.
